PeasantstruggleFor thousands of years, farmers across the globe have been selecting, nurturing, breeding and saving seed, leading to great agricultural diversity. Farmers have cultivated crop varieties to deal with many different challenges related to soils, climates, storage, pest control and diseases. However, during the last century we have witnessed a dramatic decrease in global seed diversity and recently, patents on seeds have caused farmers to be more dependent of agribusiness.
