Extractivism, Green-Grabbing and Resistance in Myanmar
March 21, 2017 @ 17:00 - 18:30

Tuesday, March 21st, the Institute for Social Studies organises a public talk on “Extractivism, Green-Grabbing and Resistance in Myanmar”.
The talk will be joined by Thant Zin, a prominent activist from Myanmar (Burma) who works on topics such as land rights, environmental justice, mining issues, and equitable natural resource governance. Since his initial involvement in the advocacy campaign and monitoring project against the Dawei Special Economic Zone (DSEZ), a Thai-Myanmar-Japanese mega development project, he has also been active in the nation-wide anti-coal campaign. He is currently a key figure in the national platform Extractive Industries Transparency Initiatives (EITI), and the Myanmar Alliance for Transparency and Accountability (MATA).
